Set Your Fitness Goals Easily With Life Trak – A Review #HolidayGiftGuide
Work, responsibilities at home and kids make it hard sometimes to make time for yourself to get fit. It is hard to gauge how active (or inactive) I am because, well, because I am so concentrated on my family and my other responsibilities. I was curious about how much time I spend at my desk versus moving around during my day, and how I can improve it. This is why I was thrilled to be asked to test a fitness tracker from Life Trak to see how easy it is to become more active during my day.
The Life Trak C410w is designed for women who want to keep track of their health and fitness goals. This device uses your electrocardiogram (or ECG) accurate heart rate measurements into the results based on the information you provide. It also filters our false steps and knows, while you are wearing it, when you fall asleep, wake up and measures how well you sleep. You are able to see how well you are working towards to your goals simply by checking your wrist. It is also water-resistant (though not to be worn while swimming) and you do not need to have an additional chest strap to measure your heart rate. Since the single standard coin cell battery lasts for up to one year, there is no need to recharge and can be left on for long periods of time.
These are the areas the Life Trak C410w measures to help users attain their fitness goals:
• Hours of sleep
• Distance traveled
• Calories burned
• Heart rate
• Steps taken
I liked that this tracker allowed users to choose which method they wanted to track their goals. I was able to select whether I wanted to view my progress in the metric or imperial system for each goal I set. For example, I could choose whether I viewed the amount of distance I walked would be in kilometers or miles. As well, you are able to make these choices for your personal stats such as height and weight.
I also liked that I could see at what point of the day I was most active during my goals simply by pushing a button. I am given a bar graph to see where my peaks were so I can increase my goals or shoot to be more active during certain parts of the day.
Since I do not consider myself a very active person, I set my goals at the bare minimum the tracker would allow for each category. For the first few days, I watched to see what my activity was like in order to see where I could improve and become more active. It did not take long for me to see my patterns of activity during the day, so I made steps to increase my activity to make the goals I set for myself. If I went out for a walk with my son, I would take the longer way home to increase the about of distance I walked as well as the amount of steps I took.
Life Trak also has an app to be used along with the tracker so you can follow your progress in colour and more statistics on your smartphone! Currently, it available for iPhone and Android users. Once you set up your account, this is what your stats board will look like (all app photos are taken on an Android smartphone).
As you use your tracker to keep your health and fitness goals, you will be able to compare your stats day by day through the app. You do this by syncing your tracker to your smartphone, and then the information is added to your app. I liked being able to see how I was doing every day. Once I saw my progress, I then increased my goals to become even more active. The app even lets you know if you have achieved your goals for a long period of time with colour coded tracking and trophies so you know how well you are doing and to let you decide where you want to go with your fitness goals.
An issue I had with the Life Trak C410w was that it was hard to gauge the graphs on the tracker and the app. For me, it is hard to figure out when I was most active during the day, and I wish that there was a way to mark the hours on the graph, so I could clearly see how I was doing during the day. This may be due to the operating system my phone operates on (I used an Android phone for this review, and my phone did not show this information).
Overall, I really enjoyed using the Life Trak C410w. It has allowed me to see my levels of activity, and then helped to push me to become more active. I was able to set goals for myself, and when I achieved them, I was able to easily increase them to suit my needs. It also tracked my sleep, so I could see the quality of my sleep, and to try to get better sleep. I also loved being able to pair it with the app in order to get a better look at my goals and achievements. I would really recommend this fitness tracker for anyone looking into tracking their fitness goals. I can’t wait to continue to setting goals to increase my activity levels so I can become fitter and healthier. I really love it!
