ROBOCOPP Sound Grenade – Personal Safety Device

I have always been an overly protective parent. There was a time when I wouldn’t let my kids go downstairs to get the mail (we live in a condo building). Our mail boxes are inside. We also know all of our neighbors in our condo building. My kids were safe enough getting the mail – I just worried about them being out of site.

My husband and I used to stand on our balcony or next to the window to watch the kids walk the dog. We wouldn’t even let them go away from the front of our building.

Fast forward to today. Our daughter will be 19 this year. She goes to college and has a boyfriend. Just this past Friday her and her boyfriend went to New York City to see a concert. They were down in the city for most of the day and she didn’t get home until 12:30 AM. I had no clue what they were doing or where they were. We do have “Find My Phone” on our phones, so I can see where she is for the most part, but that doesn’t mean much.

I worry about my kid and their safety. Especially our daughter because she take public transportation to/from school/home and to work from school. She has to walk a bit from the bus stop to her job. That worries me a lot because she’s always telling me about men and teenage boys who’ll try and talk to her (while driving their cars next to her), whistle at her and shout comments at her. She knows enough to ignore them and keep walking, but you never know. Someone could come up from behind her and attack her. THANKFULLY she works during the day, and it’s a busy road, but still… I worry.

We have looked into personal safety devices for her to carry on her at all times. We thought about pepper spray. It is legal where we live. The only downside is that if you are being attacked you’ll have to try and find the spray in your pocket or purse, open it and make sure you are spraying in the right direction. I think that is too involved and she needs something she can activate in a heartbeat.

A few months ago I was sent information about a device called a Grenade. It’s from the company ROBOCOPP. The Sound Grenade is a personal safety device that can be activated simply by pulling on it.

The Sound Grenade is a very unassuming looking device. It’s about the size of a ChapStick lip balm (just a bit wider).

ROBOCOPP Sound Grenade

On one end is a black “plug” (for lack of a better description) and a string that you can use to attach the Grenade to a belt loop, key chain, purse strap or anywhere else on your person.

Sound Grenade is super easy to use and can be activated instantly simply by pulling the plug. Once the plug is removed the Sound Grenade emits an ear shattering a 120-decibel (ambulance-level) alarm. Once the plug is inserted back into the Sound Grenade the siren shuts off and the device can be used again and again (hopefully you’ll never have to use it in the first place).

Here is some additional information about the ROBOCOPP Sound Grenade.

  • 120 dB Siren
  • Dimensions: 2.79 x 1.22 x 0.51 in.
  • Weight: Less than 1 oz.
  • Battery: Included
  • TSA Accepted – Permitted on Airlines
  • Works under water
  • Quality Manufacturing: 5 YEAR WARRANTY
  • Operating Temperature Range: -10*C to 40*C / 14*F to 104*F

We were sent the Sound Grenade to review. OUCH! Is that siren loud! It felt like it was piercing my eardrums.

We set the alarm off inside our home (we didn’t want to do it in public and concern people). Our pets were NOT happy at all. We tried to do it away from them but it’s so loud they could still hear it and they scattered trying to find some place to hide.

This is the perfect safety device for our daughter. She can keep it on her bag so that it’s always handy. The plug (pin?) is in the Sound Grenade securely enough so it can’t be accidentally pulled. It has to be pulled with some force.

This is not only good for deterring would-be attackers, it would also work for scaring away animals such as dogs and wildlife. We see stray dogs from time to time and this would certainly scare them off. We also have bears and coyotes in the area and I think it would work for them as well.

ROBOCOPP Sound Grenade

The ROBOCOPP Sound Grenade is an easy to use, affordable safety device that children and adults can use. Of course you would have to instruct your child NOT to play around with it or pull the plug to show friends how it works.

A single Sound Grenadesells for $23.99 on the ROBOCOPP website. A family pack of FIVE (5) Grenades is only $99.00. I think that is a small investment for a safety device for the entire family.

If you would like to learn more about ROBOCOPP and/or the Sound Grenade visit the ROBOCOPP website, ROBOCOPP.com. ROBOCOPP can also be found across the social media channels. All of those links are found on the bottom left of their website.

Be sure to check out their “Campus Safety” section if you or a loved one is in college. There is also a section of personal stories worth checking out.

The Sound Grenade is not only a great safety device, but it can also be used to alert people if you need help. One of the real stories on their site was from a person who had a stroke while out riding a bike. At that time the person didn’t have a Sound Grenade and had to rely on a dog barking to get attention. Had he had a Grenade he could have activated it and got the attention of people near by.

What do you think about the ROBOCOPP Sound Grenade? Doe it look like a product you would want for your self and/or your family?
